Let’s make this Thanksgiving special for your furry friend too! These simple 3-ingredient chew sticks are the perfect treat to brighten your pup’s day.
Made with just a few wholesome ingredients, these chew sticks are not only a yummy reward but also help keep your dog’s teeth healthy and their chewing instincts happy. While they dehydrate in the oven, the delicious aroma will fill your home, reminding you of freshly baked pie and creating a cozy, inviting vibe. What could be nicer than spoiling your pet with a special snack that makes the whole house smell so wonderful?
Ingredients:
– 1 cup pure organic unsweetened applesauce
– 1 cup pure organic pumpkin puree. (Note: Do not use pumpkin pie filling.)
– 1/2 tablespoon organic cinnamon
– 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
Recipe
1. Preheat your oven to 175ºF (79ºC).
2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine all the ingredients and stir well to mix.
3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a spoon, spread out long lines of the mixture. Make them about the thickness of three stacked quarters; thicker lines will take longer to dehydrate.
4. Place the baking sheet in the oven and dehydrate/bake for 6-7 hours. Ovens vary, so check on them every hour. Youwant the sticks to be firm but not sticky, without being too hard to break apart easily.
5. Once out of the oven and slightly cooled (but still warm to the touch), ensure they are flexible and not sticky. Cut the strips to your desired length using scissors. With a simple twisting motion, mold each strip into spirals. What you are leftwith are delightful little chewy sticks for your dog.
These treats should only be a supplement, not a substitute for a complete and balanced diet. Always provide fresh, clean water for your dog and monitor their treat intake to maintain a healthy weight.
